Zoology is the branch of biology that studies animals and animal life. The word zoology is from the Greek zoon = animal and logos = word.

Poster Text: Zoology is the study of animals. It encompasses all aspects fo the lives of animals, from their anatomy and physiology to their behavior and their roles in the ecosystems of the world.
Because zoology is such a broad and diverse field, careers in zoology are also quite varied. The study of zoology can lead to a career as a veterinarian, wildlife biologist, park ranger, or museum curator. Agricultural zoologist do research on crop pests and parasites of farm animals, and are also involved in the development of new strains of livestock.

The word zoo is an abbreviation for zoological and refers to a garden or park facility where animals are confined to be displayed to the public, and may also be bred. "Zoo" was first used to describe the London Zoological Gardens which had opened in 1828 for scientific study, and to the public in 1847.

Entomology - Insect Orders

Insects have short life spans and reproduce in great numbers. These two facts allow a much greater rate of evolution and adaptation that in other organisms. Having existed since prehistoric times, insects have evolved and adapted into highly specific and varied forms. The majority of these can be grouped into one of seven orders; odonata, hamiptera, coleoptera, lepidoptera, diptera, hymenoptera, and orthoptera.

Symbiosis Poster

In symbiosis, two different species live closely together in a mutually beneficial relationship.

The clownfish and sea anemone have a symbiotic relationship. The clownfish is unharmed as it swims through the anemone's deadly stinging tentacles. The anemone shelters the clownfish, protecting it from other predators. In return, the clownfish cleans the anemone, shares leftovers, and fights off harmful intruders.
