Periodic Law
of Chemical Elements
by Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyeev
|
A periodic table is a tabular method of displaying elements. The layout of the periodic table of chemical elements, first devised by the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869 for illustrating when element are arranged in order of increasing atomic mass, chemical and physical properties, form patterns that repeat at regular intervals, has been refined to include properties and elements discovered since Mendeleev, as have other layouts been created to clarify and emphasize different behaviors.
The original periodic table layout is so familiar an icon that it is used as a design element to suggest codification of other disciplines.

Periodic Table displayed as a Spiral Galaxy
The elements are arranged by their atomic number starting with the galactic center and circle outwards. Neutronium, absent from standard periodic tables and forming most of the mass of neutron stars, is at the center, so the table design can also be read as the approximate sequence of formation of the elements in the history of the universe. Comes with information sheet.
